ABOUT

New York City is home to the largest Garifuna Community outside of Central America, with more than a quarter million, making up what might be the most diverse Garifuna representation of any city in the world.

Communities across the five boroughs hail from Belize, Guatemala, Honduras, Nicaragua and St. Vincent and the Grenadines, and their culture forms an integral part of the City’s fabric, seen in arts institutions, cuisine, music, small businesses, parades, and festivals.

In this section, we spotlight New York City’s variety of Garifuna experiences, businesses, and cultural offerings.
